New Digs
Today we're moving into a new place that will see us through until mid-December. It's much closer to the city. To give you some idea, we've currently been commuting 60km each way into the centre of the city. In our new digs, this will be reduced to 20km.
Interestingly they used to be the apartments used by athletes in the 2000 Olympics which have since been sold off to the public.
It's in a really quiet part of Homebush close to the olympic stadium and is a self-contained village with shops, cafes and an almost mediaterranean feel to it.
Another bonus is that there is a free shuttle to the ferry of which we could easily use instead of the train to get into work which is pretty cool in itself.
As it was the old haunts for athletes, there are tennis courts, swimming pools and other features that make the place quite appealing.

Glad to hear you got somewhere sorted. I can't believe you are living 20km from the city centre and that's "close".
Sydney is no Christchurch, eh!
It looks good- we need inside pics too! When do you move in? How's the job hunt going? Thinking about you both. xx
Ex-athelete's appartments eh? Do you think any of it will rub off on you? I can see you being a good candidate for the 100m sprint Phil! Sprint to the pub that is :P
The appartments look great though. I guess 20km is a lot closer than where you were, but it must still take a good while to get into town though? Hopefully getting a ferry there will mean being able to avoid the usual rush hour traffic.
All the best with job hunting and I hope you both manage to get yourselves sorted out with employment as fast as you got sorted out with an appartment.
Sydney is huge and Chistchurch is small so 20km is comparably close to the centre. It's actually only 30 mins on the train which is cheap and runs until 4am every day. There is also a free shuttle bus from outside the apartment which takes you to the wharf for a ferry into the city. Considering how cramped, basic and overpriced city centre flats are, this is quite a good option.
